The Garmin AT (UPS AT) MX20 won the 2001 "Product of the Year" award from Aviation Consumer Magazine. The built-in terrain elevation database allows you to select a terrain-depiction map that color codes relevant terrain in relation to your aircraft's altitude. The MX20 interfaces with your GPS to display waypoints and your aircraft's position and track on a navigation map, including Jeppesen instrument approach charts and airport surface charts with the ChartView option. The MX20 also integrates with stormscopes, weather radar, traffic awareness systems and datalink systems.
Pilots will enjoy the Garmin GNS 530 as an MFD, especially when it is coupled with traffic, lightning detection, and weather interfaces like Ryan TCAD, TIS from the Garmin GTX 330 Mode S transponder, or Goodrich SKYWATCH, STORMSCOPE WX 500 and the Garmin GDL 49 data link transceiver. The GNS 530 has plenty of growth potential as there are reasonably priced upgrade paths for WAAS-compatibility, TAWS, and Terrain awareness.
